Can a parent or family member teach you to drive?

Definitely! Your parents, family members or a friend can supervise you between your driving lessons from a qualified driving instructor.

The supervising driver must:

  • Be at least 21, although many insurance providers will insist on a minimum age of 25.
  • Have held a full driving licence from the UK or EU for three years.
  • Not currently be banned from driving.
