2.4 We respect your information may be confidential and we’ll safeguard as such via this Privacy Policy and the UK-GDPR (United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation) January 31, 2020.

How we use this information

3.1 The information we collect allows us to consider and process your application and enable a third-party lender (from a panel of lenders) to provide you with an appropriate motor finance or insurance product or service tailored to your circumstances.

3.2 The information is also collected for internal purposes such as quality control, site performance, system administration, and to evaluate how the website is being used so that we can provide the best possible service and most valuable content.

3.3 We also use your data to provide you with information, products, and services that you request from us, or which we feel may interest you (with your consent) and to notify you about changes to our service.

3.4 Information may also be shared with our agents, Credit Reference Agencies, third-party lenders, and sub-contractors to deal with your enquiries, process your transaction, and communicate with you on any matter relating to the provision of products or services with your prior consent.

3.5 We may monitor your use of the website and record your email address and/or IP address, operating system, and browser type, for system information and to report aggregated information to third parties such as advertisers. 3.7 We only keep your information for as long as necessary.

How we might share your information

Credit Reference Agencies

4.1 When you apply for any of our products or services, we’ll carry out a search with one or more Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs). We’ll use the personal information you have supplied to us and the CRA will share information about you in return. We’ll only perform a “soft” search, which is not visible to other lenders and should not affect your credit score.

4.2 The CRA will provide a credit scoring computation. Based on this score, if we can proceed, we will pass your information on to a suitable lender who may carry out a hard search.

4.3 CRAs hold both public and credit data about you. This information includes:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address and previous addresses
  • Electoral roll records
  • County Court Judgements
  • Bankruptcy Records

Your credit information is shared by businesses such as banks, building societies, car loan companies, and mobile phone providers. This data includes:

  • Past credit applications
  • Lenders you’ve dealt with
  • Credit limits you have
  • Payment history
  • Credit card balance

4.4 A hard credit search will enable lenders to calculate the level of risk associated with providing credit to you. These searches will be recorded on your credit report for up to two years. Other lenders and organisations will be able to see when and how many times your credit information has been accessed.

4.5 To verify your identity, prevent crime, and assist in debt recovery, we may exchange information on a case-by-case basis with fraud prevention agencies (including CIFAS), debt recovery agencies, and other relevant organisations including other lenders.

Third-party lenders

4.6 We might share your information with third-party lenders (including companies whose products and services are not included on the website) if your application is declined by all available lenders. This will enable you to be considered for alternative loan options and financial products that are more suited to your circumstances. These third parties may carry out further credit report searches to assess your credit eligibility and any such searches will be recorded on your credit file. See the Credit Reference Agencies section above for further details.

Other websites

4.7 This website contains services and products from third-party providers. Where a service is to be provided by a third party, such as a motor finance loan or insurance policy, your information will be shared with them to enable them to provide you with the service or product you have requested.

4.8 When you make a purchase with another company via our website, use of any information collected is subjected to the Privacy Policy of that third party. This Privacy Policy applies exclusively to data collected on our website. We encourage users to read the Privacy Policies of each website that collects personal information about them as they differ from site to site.

5.1 Your personal data is restricted to Young Car Driver employees, contractors, and agents who are required to know that information to process it on our behalf. They are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations.

5.2 Your personal information may be processed by team members operating outside of the EEA, working for us or one of our suppliers. By submitting your personal data, you understand and unambiguously agree to the transfer of personal information to these countries and parties. We’ll take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
